Just over 1 year ago, I was moderately overweight and massively out of condition and unfit. At 52, having never done any exercise in my life, I was advised by doctors to take it up, modestly, and sooner rather than later, before the aches, pains and general joint problems became too difficult to self-help. I hated the idea of exercise and couldn’t imagine how this could be part of my life.
Enter Adam Lask. A young, knowledgeable and very personable trainer, who asked all the right questions, seemed to really know what he was doing and had a great “bedside manner”. I knew we’d get on.
He organised an osteopathic examination and gave me a realistic assessment. He planned a regime, which was gentle, thorough and above all not daunting. Definitely do-able, even for me!
At first I forced myself to do this, and in all honesty, without pleasure. But very soon, I reluctantly admitted that I was shocked to discover the truth in what everyone says about enjoying exercise. I began to lose some weight, but more importantly, started to feel “fitter”, being able to do exercises with muscles that I didn’t even know I had!
He tailor made my routines, so nothing was inappropriate, and gradual improvement became very apparent. That in itself was huge motivation. It’s a year on, I still look forward to going to my regular sessions (2 or 3 a week) with Adam, and its true - I do really miss it if I don’t go.
I couldn’t possibly have achieved the huge improvement or understanding of what to do, without Adam’s personal training. He inspires me, motivates me, and makes sure I’m doing what’s right for MY body and MY needs, and I feel truly so much better for it. Despite working full time in a stressful job, having a young child to look after, and generally running an overstretched exhausting life- as many of us do these days……
I’m much fitter at 53 than I was at 52, which I assure you is real encouragement for every woman’s dread of impending middle age.
